KMYSA COVID-19 Preparedness Plan

KMYSA is committed to providing a healthy and safe atmosphere for players and coaches to participate in soccer. KMYSA has developed the following COVID-19 Preparedness Plan in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The board and all participants (players, coaches, volunteers, and families) are all responsible for implementing this  preparedness plan.

KMYSA’s COVID-19 Preparedness Plan follows the industry guidance developed by the state of Minnesota, available at the Stay Safe Minnesota website (https://staysafe.mn.gov), which is based upon Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) guidelines for COVID-19, and Minnesota’s relevant and current executive orders.

Changes to the spring/summer season may be necessary as the recommendations from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) adapt to current situations and  status of the pandemic. Participants and groups are expected to adhere to the requirements set forth by this Preparedness Plan. Failure to do so may result in the ineligibility to participate.

 PARTICIPANT SCREENING:

➢    Parents will monitor players for any Covid-19 signs and symptoms, and confirm that their participant is symptom free. These confirmations can be aligned with the CDC’s “Coronavirus Self-Checker” or current MDH recommendations.

➢    Any participant who has had a fever or cold symptoms in the previous 24 hours is not allowed to take part in practices/games, and should contact his or her appropriate healthcare professional.

INFECTION PREVENTION:

➢    Players must bring their own personal training gear (soccer ball, shin guards, clothing and/or uniform, and water bottles). There will be no sharing of training gear. Where possible, any necessary communal equipment should only be handled by the coach and will be disinfected before and after practices.

➢    “Pinnies” shall be individually distributed to each player and used by that player for the entire season. Pinnies are to be washed by the player in between each team contact.

➢    Hand sanitizer should be used by each player before, during, and after training, supplied by the player.

➢    Face coverings are required for participants.

○      Face coverings must be worn by all participants at all times, including practices and games, with the exception of practical and medical exemptions. Face-covering guidance allows for people to remove their face covering if they are having trouble breathing. If an athlete needs to take their face covering off, they should take a break from play, and find an area where they can sit down and be physically distanced before removing the face covering.

○      All participants are recommended to wear a face covering upon arrival and departure from the field, and when not physically active for any training or game. Coaches and players should wear face coverings on the sidelines.

SOCIAL DISTANCE/GENERAL COVID SAFETY:

➢    Participants must maintain 6 feet of social distancing when not actively playing (team meetings, side lines, waiting for a turn).

➢    Group sizes will be kept within current guidelines set forth by MDH and the CDC.

○      For youth organized sport practices or training (non-game or competition activities) pod sizes cannot exceed 25 people per pod.

➢    Team celebrations or congratulations should be no-touch and should be done with appropriate social distancing.

➢    A record will be kept of all individuals present at practices and competitions for contact tracing purposes.

➢    Coaches will stay with the same group of participants for the entire practice/games.

➢    Any coach or player who verbally interacts with an official must do so with a face covering on and at a safe distance.

➢    Spectators are to follow social distancing recommendations including the wearing of face coverings, as well as maintaining at least 6 feet of physical distancing between households.

➢    Spectators should not have access to participants during the competition. Social distancing should be practiced throughout the entire event and spectators may connect with participants following the completion of the event.

COMMUNICATION

➢    KMYSA will provide communication to parents of players on Covid-19 safety updates and reminders.

➢    Should a participant become ill with Covid-19, KMYSA will contact public health and necessary communications will be sent to those involved.

➢    This Covid-19 Preparedness Plan will be accessible to participants on KMYSA website.
